Per my last update regarding the status of our community pool, the Board has been having daily conversations as new guidelines and requirements have been introduced. Additionally the Board held a special meeting last night to discuss options for opening the pool. Given the current requirements set by Governor Kemp, the pool will remain closed until at least June 15th. This will continue to be an ongoing conversation as we explore options and cost for compliance.
Given feedback received following my initial email I’m certain there will be a mixed reaction to this, even some residents insisting we open as other communities have. This is not a decision we take lightly, and it’s the result of an exchange spanning more than a month involving dozens of people and sources both inside and outside of the community. The decision to remain closed was made considering all factors. Including personal liability, safety, cost to the community, and practical ability to abide by orders set forth. There are 22 mandates in Governor Kemp’s executive order that must be met in order to reopen. While we are exploring options to accomplish all of this we expect it to be cost prohibitive and impractical if not impossible to enforce social distancing and group gatherings. We are talking to other communities and requesting a copy of their written operational plan to see what we may be able to learn. We are additionally engaged with our pool management company, lawyers, and any other resource we can find to see what we can reasonably accomplish. The Board continues to discuss the matter even today and we have another meeting on June 1 to review at length. We will continue to keep the community updated with every new development. Respectfully, Rob Grasso Communications Chair, KCHA The USTA released updated safety precautions a couple of weeks ago for anyone continuing to play tennis at their own risk.
